Brand-new facilities and an important new therapy - there's a lot to be excited about at Advanced Infusion Care (AIC), a division of AIS Healthcare.
For many years, AIS Healthcare - a leading provider of targeted drug delivery and infusion care - has been going the extra mile for patients and providers. Recent developments at its AIC division show just how committed the company is to enhancing the entire care experience and going beyond the expected by giving patients the care and medicinal therapy they need to thrive.
AIC provides intravenous (IV) and subcutaneous (SubQ) immunoglobulin therapy to patients with a broad range of needs, including immune deficiency diseases and disorders, Guillain-Barré syndrome, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, and many more.
AIC always strives to make people's lives better. Here's what's new at AIC today.
AIC Is Very Equipped to Serve Patients
AIC has just reopened its pharmacy in Valdosta, Georgia, with a whole new design that enhances its ability to serve patients across the United States.
The property was originally purchased in 2017, and the newly outfitted, state-of-the-art facilities are now AIC's largest pharmacy. The location has nearly 40 licensed professionals who deal with approximately 1,450 patients, expanding AIC's footprint and service provision in the Southeast and across the country.
"This new space further optimizes working conditions for our team and allows us to continue achieving the highest levels of safety and quality for the patients we serve," said Jud Hall, president at AIC, a division of AIS Healthcare.
What do the new facilities mean for patients and providers? The updated layout expands production areas and boosts staff efficiency. Like at all AIS Healthcare facilities, the focus at Valdosta is on safety, providing treatments of the highest quality, and comprehensive, patient-focused services. Patients using AIC's services have always benefited from 24/7 access to dedicated clinical and support staff - including clinical pharmacists, infusion nurse specialists, and intake managers - and the new Valdosta pharmacy enhances that attention to care even more.
The newly reopened Valdosta pharmacy is an important part of AIC's overall footprint across several states. AIC also has locations in Birmingham, Alabama; Clinton, Mississippi; Panama City, Florida; and Dallas, Texas.
A New Treatment for People with Alzheimer's
In addition to the new and improved Georgia facility, AIC has added options to help people in its care. AIC now offers the infusion therapy Leqembi (lecanemab-irmb), a humanized immunoglobulin gamma 1 monoclonal (IgG1) antibody.
Leqembi, which is manfucatured by Eisai Co. Ltd., is used in the treatment of patients with Alzheimer's disease. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration for intravenous use, the medication can slow the progression of Alzheimer's in people with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia, who also have amyloid beta plaques in their brain (hard, insoluble accumulations of certain proteins that clump together between the neurons of people living with Alzheimer's). The new therapy expands AIC's ability to serve Alzheimer's patients.
AIC's nationally accredited home infusion teams are offering this therapy collaboratively with physicians in patients' homes or at specialized infusion suites, and the therapy is available at all AIC locations.
"We're proud to be able to add Leqembi to our growing list of infusion therapies," said AIC's Hall. "This therapy from Eisai can help us provide a new treatment option for patients with Alzheimer's disease."
Like all AIC patients, those with Alzheimer's disease will receive a high level of care, including 24/7 access to clinical and support staff. Every AIC patient has a dedicated team of professionals at their disposal, including infusion nurse specialists, clinical pharmacists, and intake managers, to provide support throughout the treatment process.
Infusion nurse specialists can visit the home of their patients and provide not only treatment, but also training in self-infusion. AIC's clinical pharmacists help patients select treatments that meet their health care conditions and restrictions, while AIC intake managers check and review the benefits for every patient, helping them gather the documentation needed to be approved for treatment. AIC collaborates with physicians to advance the quality of care and improve the lives of patients and their families.
In AIC, physicians have a full-service care delivery partner. AIC also works directly with patients, insurance companies, and physician offices to secure all the authorizations needed and to complete all the necessary paperwork.
AIC: A Key Component of AIS Healthcare's Mission To Improve Lives
Through AIC, AIS Healthcare provides infusion therapies across the country to the people who need care the most. AIC is a vital component of how AIS Healthcare improves people's everyday lives. It sits alongside the company's targeted drug delivery division, which provides more than 140,000 patient-specific prescriptions to over 34,000 patients a year.
Through its state-of-the-art compounding pharmacies, AIS Healthcare's targeted drug delivery division exceeds the industry standards, producing medications of the highest quality and sterility. Both AIC and AIS Healthcare's targeted drug delivery divisions take the extra steps and make the additional investments that ensure every person is cared for and that every process and protocol is followed to prioritize patient safety above everything else.
Beyond its pharmacies, AIS Healthcare's nursing staff provides additional care services to patients both in the clinic and in the home. Across the company, AIS Healthcare's nurses are highly trained to offer specialized care that leads to improved outcomes for patients.
