While the Mars One mission has got fame all over the world owing to its selection process, many of its contestants are continuously talking about its flaws. A Trinity college's professor Joseph Roche having a Ph.D. in astrophysics initially signed the one-way trip to Mars. But now he is concerned about the project's future. He believes that the project is not going to take off and its contributions are likely to go to some Dutch funds.
Roche also objected to the selection process for the Mars One mission saying that all it took was a few Skype tests and interviews of the contestants.
On the other hand, Mars One's director of communications, Suzanne Flinkenflogel refuted Roche's article saying that they were bogus accusations.
The requirement of a fee in order to be promoted to become a mission candidate is the primary complaint of Roche. The Mar's mission is costing billions of pounds. Candidates will be followed during their mission to Mars by a reality TV show that will fund the mission. The project will take 75% of the candidate's media appearance fee.
According to Roche, mission's candidates will be publicized at a site 'Mars One Community Platform'. In order to increase their ranking, candidates will have to contribute money to the mission.
The document 'tips for candidates' revealed that the candidates are expected to give a fee to the mission for their interviews and TV appearances.
Yet, Bas Lansdorp, the chief of the mission, rebutted and strongly recanted all the claims against the mission.
