The UK and other territories will come under deep darkness as a result of the solar eclipse this Friday. This spectacular space event will take place along with two other unusual celestial events known as the spring equinox and super moon.
A solar eclipse is the event in which the sun, the moon and the earth come in a line such that the moon blocks any sunshine on Earth. On the other hand, super moon occurs when the new moon or the full moon comes closest to the Earth and thus looks bigger than usual. The moment of the year, when the night and day have equal extent, is referred to as the spring equinox.
The occurrence of these three events together at the same time is quite rare. In this year of 2015, six super moons are expected, 2 of these 6 have already been witnessed while the next is expected on the day of the eclipse that is on March 20, 2015.
On March 20, a new moon, nearer to us than ever will appear but unfortunately we will not be able to see it owing to its narrowness.
The spring equinox is also expected on March 20, 2015. While the solar eclipse does not get affected in any way by these two events, the three events collision will contribute to an extraordinary space confrontation.
In the year, 2053 and 2072, the equinox and solar eclipse will collide again; however, they won't be as near to each as they are this time.
