Netflix has a new docu-series called "Encounters" that features a massive UFO that was seen by more than 300 locals back in 2007 to 2008.
Netflix 'Encounters' Documentary Features Mile-Long UFO Sighting From 2007-2008
The mass UFO sighting can be traced back to five months post-Halloween 2007. Over 300 residents from 80 miles southwest of Fort Worth or Dallas started reporting a strange phenomenon over the sky. More specifically, reports regarding a huge UFO with a delta shape came in. The odd object was estimated to span around 300 feet to one mile, while sightings lasted from November 2007 up until March 2008.
The docu-series produced by Steven Spielberg covered several eyewitnesses of this UFO as well as a nanotechnology engineer Robert Powell who significantly aided the capturing of the huge UFO through radar data of the Federal Aviation Administration.
Stephenville UFO Case
Powell and Glen Scghukze, a career electrical engineer, had conducted in-depth investigations on the matter. They looked into 2.8 million radar returns taken from five various FAA-operated radar sites. Based on their studies, the two concluded that the speed of the object was at around 21000 mph.
Powell explains that his 2007-2008 work in Stephenville was one of the last times that the FAA released radar tower information to the public through the Freedom of Information Act, adding that what he accessed was the type of data that the FAA does not provide anymore.
The event is colloquially referred to as the Stephenville UFO case. However, the sighting actually covered several towns near Texas, including Gorman and Dublin.
Among the many reported sightings covered in this five-month period, the most publicized one took place on January 8, 2008. Back then, 19 individuals were able to witness a UFO passing west from Dublin to Stephenville. It then went back again as it was chased by fighter pilots of the US military.
According to witness Steven Allen, who is a businessman and pilot, this UFO was a huge object that had a length of one mile and a width of a half a mile. It was moving without sound at a high speed. Allen explained this to civilian researchers from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON).
During the UFO's second pass, the team of MUFON explained that a jet aircraft was chasing the odd object.
Yet another witness estimated that the UFO spanned one-eighth of a mile or had a width of four city blocks. This witness, who was a local officer for law enforcement, reportedly explained that the object had two extremely huge lights that had a 25 feet diameter.
The UFO sighting was a hot national news topic in 2008. It was covered by many esteemed news outlets.
