Maryland has become a potential UFO hotspot with nearly 2,000 sightings since the mid-1990s. Witnesses have described various unusual objects, including a black triangle, flying saucer, and stationary oval-shaped craft.
The sightings have been cataloged in a database, with the earliest recorded case dating back to 1946 but reported in 2017. Recent sightings, such as glowing orbs above Ocean City, are reported within days, adding to the mysterious phenomena.
FAA's UFO Reporting Policy Sparks Controversy
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has maintained a long-standing policy that discouraged commercial pilots and civilians from reporting unexplained aerial phenomena (UAP) or unidentified flying objects (UFOs) to the agency.
According to the FAA's 'Aeronautical Information Manual,' individuals witnessing strange aerial occurrences were advised to report their sightings to the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC). The FAA's guidelines also suggested reporting to local law enforcement in cases where there was concern for life or property.
This policy drew criticism from figures like John Podesta, a White House official and Biden administration 'clean energy' czar, who considered it illogical and discriminatory. In recent developments, NASA's UAP advisory panel has recommended that the FAA incorporate public UFO and UAP sightings into its Aviation Safety Reporting System.
Meanwhile, NUFORC's director, Peter Davenport, noted a surge in UFO reports as congressional scrutiny, Pentagon interest, and media coverage of the UFO phenomenon have intensified.
Davenport expressed his appreciation for the increasing number of people coming forward with reports, with a notable rise in sightings compared to previous years, spanning various cities across the United States.
California stands out with the highest number of reported UFO sightings, exceeding 15,000 claims, and witnessing over 200 objects in the current year. Additionally, Maryland has documented 1,923 UFO incidents in its civilian UFO database, based on 1,818 reported cases.
UFO Sightings in Maryland in the Past 12 Months
The first Maryland UFO sighting, from 1946, was reported only in 2017, while recent sightings, like glowing orbs in Ocean City, are documented promptly, as described by a defense sector witness. Here are some of the reported UFO sightings in the past 12 months in Maryland:
Baltimore, Maryland
On August 5, 2023, a witness in Baltimore captured video footage of multiple electric blue lights, some arranged in a tight triangular formation, hovering in the night sky during a backyard celebration.
The witness recorded unusual lights, suspecting they weren't regular stars due to their slow, distinctive movement; however, despite reporting around 10 lights, the video displayed eight or nine lights moving together, differentiating them from typical stars.
Brunswick, Maryland
On July 4, 2023, during Independence Day fireworks in Brunswick, witnesses at an apartment complex observed two blinking lights seemingly connected to each other. These lights moved synchronously and swiftly across the sky, raising questions among witnesses. The objects appeared too distinct from fireworks or conventional aircraft, with a consistent flight pattern that ruled out the possibility of drones.
Perryville, Maryland
A driver near Jackson Station Road reported on March 19 an unusual encounter of a low-flying, flat-bottom black triangle UFO with a distinct low wooshing sound. The UFO had a triangular shape with green lights at each point. The witness managed to capture one blurry photo before continuing to drive when a car approached from behind.
Rockville, Maryland
A witness from Rockville observed what they described as a classic flying saucer on November 7, 2022, noting a black marking at the "front." The UFO moved slowly across the sky, appeared relatively low, and resembled the iconic flying saucer shape. After approximately 30 seconds of observation, the object seemingly vanished.
