While a court battle continues, two mummies believed to be "alien" bodies discovered in Peru have generated a global sensation and may soon be transported to the US for further DNA testing.

Legal Battle and Scientific Scrutiny

Jaime Maussan, a Mexican journalist and UFO specialist who claims to have these mummies, has sparked speculation that they are alien-human hybrids with 30% unknown DNA. Archaeologists believe these may be ancient individuals who were upset by tomb raiders.

Maussan is currently challenging the Peruvian government for permission to transport the mummies to US labs with better technology for more extensive testing. He wants to prove that they came from another planet by conducting extensive DNA tests, which have already yielded mixed results.

Even though there are legal problems, Maussan is still motivated, and tests are still being done in Mexico. Collaborators like Dr. Martín Achirica Ramos from SPES in Mexico City have done X-rays, CT scans, and other lab tests on these preserved bodies. Scientists from Europe are also likely to join the search, but for now, the exact DNA results of the mummies are being kept secret.

The debate got worse after a dramatic police raid in Peru during Maussan's press conference, during which a newly displayed "alien" mummy named Montserrat was almost taken away. Maussan's case against Peru asks for $300 million in damages, making it easier for these samples to be sent to the US for testing by a third party.

Ongoing Debates and Criticism

Some people, like the Latin American historian Christopher Heaney, are still unsure if the mummies are aliens or just old humans. Heaney discusses how the mummies' large skulls may be explained by the old Andean custom of tying people's heads.

These mummies are a misunderstanding because Peru has a history of tomb raiding and item trafficking. Given that mummified bodies have been taken, buried again, and even turned into dolls, the archaeological record isn't always straightforward.

Scientists have determined that the two "alien mummies" discovered in October 2023 at Lima airport are Earthly. Experts declared in a Lima press conference that they were humanoid dolls assembled with contemporary glue from human and animal components.

Archaeologist Flavio Estrada stated that they are not from another planet. The dolls were dressed in traditional Andean clothes and found in a cardboard box at DHL. In September of last year, similar preserved bodies were shown in Mexico. They were said to be 1,000 years old.

Later, experts threw them out as fake. The bodies found in Mexico have nothing to do with the dolls found in Lima.

Despite this new information, Maussan continues his search. He wants to open a museum dedicated to the mummies and clarifies that he has no personal gain in mind. The court case is expected to last for eight months, and scientists are waiting for more precise results from the tests that are still being done.

People are arguing about these mummies in the same way that people are arguing about UFOs and life from other planets. US politicians and scientists are calling for more open study. As the debate continues, scientists and historians still have different ideas about where these mysterious objects came from.
