Inefficient and monotonous manual labor tends to waste significant time and money, which is why industry professionals such as Luis Fernando are increasingly leveraging artificial intelligence to automate arduous work and make business operations much more efficient.

After starting his professional life at just 18, Luis quickly discovered the inefficiencies plaguing businesses that haven't adopted modern tech. As he grew in his technical acumen, he learned how to capitalize on scalable business practices to make workflows much more flexible, adaptable, and poised to grow with business needs. Now, in his work as the CTO of Lumaa, he's creating an AI platform that allows vendors to scale by generating automated responses to requests for proposals.

A Career in Innovation

At just 12 years old, Luis Fernando was taking apart old PCs to see how they worked, then doing his best to put them back together again.

Spurred on by a passion for technology, he became a software engineer at 18. When the senior engineer on staff suddenly quit just a couple of weeks later, Luis found himself serving in a leading role—having to maintain a significant code base and develop new features as needed.

But Luis persevered, developing the skills to take charge and engineer new products quickly. He went on to work for various tech startups before finally landing at Microsoft, where he was frequently praised for his ability to work efficiently and finish projects early. It was around this time that he started to develop a significant interest in artificial intelligence, and he soon realized that this powerful new technology could be used to eliminate some of the inefficiencies he'd noticed in various companies.

This was a personal mission for Luis, who had become all too familiar with the human impacts of poorly optimized workflows. Right after Luis graduated high school, his father died because of inefficiencies in the healthcare system. Since then, he's looked for ways to use his tech skills to make a positive (and major) impact on society by solving inefficiencies at every level.

After identifying sales and procurement processes as particularly time-consuming workflows riddled with inefficiencies, Luis set out to create a solution.

Adaptable and Scalable Sales with Lumaa

Lumaa is the culmination of Luis' interest in AI-powered innovation and streamlined business operations.

Specifically, it's a platform designed to automate responses to requests for proposals, allowing vendors to sift through thousands of RFPs and respond to them accurately and promptly. Because staff members would otherwise have to sift through each one manually, determine whether the RFP is appropriate for their offerings, and then fill out each one painstakingly, this drastically reduces the amount of work required for a vendor to go from RFP to sale.

It accomplishes this by first discovering new RFPs, analyzing them, and assigning them percentage scores to determine whether the vendor is a good fit. If so, Lumaa will then fill out all required details using three primary sources: previous RFPs, online information, and pre-approved library answers that are personalized to the buyer. For anything Lumaa doesn't yet know how to answer, it notifies the vendor's team and requests more information.

This streamlined approach drastically cuts down on the amount of human resources required to respond to RFPs, and it also eliminates the risk of human error while saving incalculable time. It's just one way that Luis has found to allow companies to scale operations without overspending on human capital.
