In 1993, Alcimed was born thanks to the perseverance of two forward-thinking women: Valérie and Géraldine. Both were driven by the same conviction: biotechs were not sufficiently exploited in the world of innovation and new technologies. It's a conviction that has lasted for 30 years and has enabled Alcimed to grow from a small start-up to a company that today works for the world's top 20 pharmaceutical companies.

At Its Launch: A Company Exploring Grey Areas
In the 90s, the healthcare and technology sectors were desperately short of time to innovate. Innovation meant having to find experts in technology or biotechnology who would be able to provide precise answers and solutions to large-scale projects. It has to be said that, at the time, biotech remained an unexplored grey area, where data was often scarce or unavailable, with applications that sorely lacked maturity.
The conclusion was simple: large corporations simply didn't necessarily have the time, or the knowledge, to know where to turn—and thus, to innovate.
That's how Alcimed was born, with the aim of creating that link between the expert and the company in search of specific expertise. While the founders' leitmotiv was dedicated to biotechs, they didn't hesitate to dig into new fields: healthcare more generally (human and animal health, medtech, agri-food, public policy, cosmetics) and not forgetting innovative industrial sectors (energy, aeronautics-space-defense, mobility, etc.).

Calling themselves Explorers, the Alcimed teams ('the Alcims' for short) don't hesitate to roll up their sleeves and dig deep into their brains to bring new, innovative solutions to companies.

Conquering new markets... And expanding into the land of Silicon Valley
With more than 220 Explorers under its belt, Alcimed is thinking big and dreaming of reaching 1,000 explorers. The company's next objective is to set up a second base camp in California in the United States. This will join the camp that has been firmly established in Princeton for more than 10 years. A new step for the company, which will enable it to get closer to its American counterparts and clients in the region.
Participating in Climate-Friendly Transformations
Of course, one of the greatest challenges facing innovation in the 21st century remains the climate. Building tomorrow's world means doing so sustainably and responsibly. We need to be able to innovate in a way that has a positive impact on our planet. Whether we're building new, more eco-responsible machines or developing processes that reduce our carbon footprint, medical and industrial progress must also mean environmental progress. Alcimed's mission is both motivating and challenging: to innovate in order to preserve both the planet and mankind.
