Introducing Misfit's Shine 2

Former Apple CEO John Scully, co-founded the wearable company Misfits and announced the new version of its wearable device. The next generation wrist wearable Shine 2 that is less expensive than Flash tracker.

Named as Shine 2, the device features several improvements from its predecessor. This includes the new three axis accelerometer and magnetometer sensors that enable the device to track accurately the activity of the user. It also has a feature called the Misfit move, which alert the user that they have been stationary for a long time.

It has Bluetooth 4.0 which makes Shine 2 performs best when it comes to responsiveness and syncing functions. The physical appearance also takes a notch higher than Shine. It was able to pack all the additional improvements at the same time reduce the overall thickness without reducing its impressive battery life that could last for six months. Shine 2 also pairs with the Android phone through an app called the Misfit link. The application makes the device perform different tasks which include the alarm clock function.

Looking at the device at a distance, it may look like its predecessor, a thin and touch sensitive wafer with the addition of a ring of LEDs. But the comparison between the two stops there. The Shine 2 now has colour LED's that enable the user to perform several new things like telling the time and notification differentiation. When the LED's turns blue it means a message is received and when it turns green it's an incoming call. It also has improved capacitive touch and vibration notifier that activates every in alarm, text or reminder.

The Shine 2 is the combination of the company's Shine and Flash wearable device. Like most of the activity tracker device, the shine 2 is capable of tracking steps, calories, distance and sleep quality. Once tethered the device can also act as a button to control apps like Spotify. The Shine 2 device will be available in Canada for US$139.99 CAD in this years first quarter of November.
