Microsoft unveiled its latest feature phone offering and also has a dual SIM variant -- the Nokia 230. It has been a long time since the company released a featured phone, especially most of today's mobile manufacturing companies focus on the more high-tech multitasking smartphone. The featured phone market has long been forgotten by most first world countries, since most companies playing in this sector focus on the local manufacturing small-time corporations.
The company aims to distribute the device in developing third world countries. But it doesn't mean that the device only performs basic features.
Nokia 230 is equipped with a 2.8-inch TFT screen with 143 ppi pixel density. It supports micro SD card up to 32 GB and a phonebook capable of 1000 entries. It also has a Bluetooth version 3.0 with a micro USB version 1.1 for connectivity. It has a 2 megapixel rear and front shooter camera capable of 480p recording, and powering the device is a decent 1200 mAh battery.
Microsoft company has claimed that the device has 23 hours of talk time and a total of 27 days standby time, which is good considering the capacity of the battery. The device is internet enabled; hence, it is capable of web browsing and video streaming. It runs with Nokia series 30 OS and has an opera mini, MSN weather and Bing search installed out of the box. The body frame of the device is covered with a polycarbonate frame and an aluminum back cover that actually makes the device look genuine.
The Nokia brand name has dominated the feature phone market years ago, which may be why Microsoft Corporation did not alter its brand name and considering most of the Lumia phone line of devices has been re-branded to Microsoft. The Nokia 230 has a price tag of a measly USD $55, which makes it fall to the super budget phone department.
