The Zenfone series is a set of mobile phones developed and distributed by giant company Asus. Recently, it is revealed that the latest model, the Asus Zenfone 3, will arrive in May.
According to a report published on DigiTimes, the third generation and latest unit of the Zenfone series will arrive in May 2016. It will come with a fingerprint processor, which, if true, will make the Asus Zenfone 3 the first non-high-end device to have such feature.
The first two installments of the Zenfone series have been released late 2014 and early 2015. Instead of the expected January debut, Zenfone 3 will be released in May or even the first week of June. In addition to that, the report also contained a part where it is basically said that there's a huge chance Asus' development team will use the fingerprint technology to expand the list of its device's better qualities.
Other than that, the company also revealed that the cost of components and parts needed to make fingerprint detectors has dropped. Hence, it made it possible for companies like Asus to adapt to it and use it for their own good.
The report, published on DigiTimes has also revealed that the giant company is planning to expand its Zenfone mobile series and distribute it to previously unreached markets such as Cambodia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Nigeria and Myanmar. Asus, on the other hand, received great success not only in Southeast Asia but their Zenfone devices have also reached Russia and Brazil.
However, DigiTimes also mentioned the chances that Asus will receive tough competition from giant Chinese companies such as Huawei, Lenovo, Oppo, Vivo, Meizu, Coolpad, ZTE and Xiaomi in the growing markets such as India. A few months ago, Asus's CEO Jonney Shih also teased that they are working on the next mobile device, and it will have a type C USB port.
