'Flickr' is a photo sharing website that has been developed by Yahoo. Recently, it revealed its end-of-year statistics, where it showed that Apple actually beat Canon as the top device used to take the pictures present on the site.
Just a few days ago, the photo sharing website revealed the top devices in 2015 that are used to take the pictures that are included on their site. And Apple, along with its eight units, occupied eighth place out of the top 10 list.
According to the site's statistics, the iPhone 6 is the top camera device that is responsible for 5 percent of the pictures uploaded to the site this year. It is followed by the previous units such as iPhone 5 and 5s.
It is also included in their blog post that camera brands such as Canon and Nikon have lost their grip on the market and saw a great decline in the percentage of use, while fellow camera brands such as Sony and Fujifilm garnered a steady rate despite their low percentage. The same thing cannot be said, although for Apple, as all of its active units registered an increase in the percentage of usage all throughout the year.
Data scientist for Flickr, Mr. Bhautik Joshi, also stated that after analyzing the trends in the last 5 years, it is more than obvious that people are now favoring easy and convenient to use devices such as iPhones over traditional cameras like Canon and Nikon. He also added that since the DSLR's peak in 2012, the rate of use and even sales of cameras have steadily decreased. And these are slowly being replaced by mirrorless cameras, with a more than 1 percent growth each year.
All in all, the statistics revealed that 18 percent of Flickr's user posted photos are from Apple devices. Nikon came out second with 15 percent.
