The mobile company BlackBerry has been taken over by smartphone manufacturing leaders such as Apple and Samsung. Recently, BlackBerry has announced that it will be releasing a new Android phone as early as this year in an attempt to establish its mark once again on the market.
In an interview for Bloomberg just a few days ago, BlackBerry's CEO John Chen expressed his desire and the company's plans to continue developing Android phones all throughout the year of 2016. In one of the recent reports that popped up online, it was stated that the company will be focusing on the quality and features of the new phone rather than speeding up its release for quantity purposes.
Mr. Chen described this move as a step up in their investments in order to provide inspiration for software development. This move came after the success of the mobile company's first ever Android phone, the BlackBerry Priv.
Ever since BlackBerry Priv made its debut in the market back in November, it was already able to boost the company's sales. In fact, it has been so well received that the company has expanded the list of areas and countries for its availability. The CEO, Mr. John Chen, announced that the project of building new smartphones next year will continue if the BlackBerry Priv unit continues to have good sales up to the first quarter of 2016.
Just last quarter, the company reported a 12 percent increase in total sales, which amounts to $548 million. This is the first time in two years that BlackBerry saw an increase in sales for two consecutive quarters.
According to the site ValueWalk, it seems that the second Android phone that will come out from the company is the rumored BlackBerry Vienna. It has leaked photos of the unit that are posted online.
