First-Born Babies Have Higher IQ & Intelligence Than Their Younger Siblings

A recent study found out that first-born babies are smarter than their younger siblings. The study also found out that the first-borns have a higher IQ and better-thinking skills than their brothers and sisters.

According to Mirror, first-born babies receive more mental stimulation in their formative years. University of Edinburgh, Analysis Group and the University of Sydney have studied a data that was collected by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. They have found out that as early as the age of one, IQ tests of the eldest child are always higher than their younger siblings.

The study was published in the Journal of Human Resources. The study observed and followed almost 5,000 children from pre-birth to age 14. The children were then assessed every two years for the research.

Independent has reported that the economists from the University of Edinburgh have found out that first-born babies have more support and were given tasks that involve thinking. They have also reported that parents do not give as many activities to younger children than their first-borns. The parents have also lessened other activities like music, crafts and reading to their younger children.

The report clearly stated that the love of the parents to each child is all the same. It does not affect the intelligence. However, as they are having more children, they are less likely to engage in the same tasks. They are also doing other dangerous things like smoking.

It is because of the undivided attention that the first-born babies got. There were also previous studies that concluded the same outcome. Studies explained that first born people are more likely to be more successful and ambitious than their younger siblings.

In the end, these studies will not define you or your siblings. You can do great things even if you're a middle child or the youngest.
