‘Super Earth’ May Provide Life Outside Earth

There might be another possible planet that humans can inhabit. Scientists have discovered a nearer exo planet that is just 14 light years away Earth.

After discovering more than one hundred more habitable planets this month, NASA scientists have identified the nearest possible planet that can accommodate human life. According to CNET, the newly discovered planet is orbiting a red dwarf star called Wolf 1061. Scientists call it super-Earth but its actual name is Gliese 411-b. it's the middle planet in the "Goldilock's zone" that has the right temperature for liquid water.

Though it is 14 light years far away, it is the nearest planet that can support life. Other Exo planets are hundreds and even thousands of light years away. Before those planets can be explored, NASA and other science laboratories have to create light speed space craft. Scientists are hoping to look closer to Wolf 1061's atmosphere to confirm its human life support.

They are also hoping to discover nearer planets that are like Gliese 411-b or even a better one. Since NASA has stated that they have more new technology that can detect life in other planets better than what they used in Mars Curiosity rover, there is a big possibility for it to happen.

Tech Times has reported that a team of international scientists revealed the revealed in the Lick-Carnegie Exoplanet survey where they analyze the planet's possibilities. Astronomers Steve Vogt, Geoffrey Marcy from the University of California, and Carnegie Institute of Science's Paul Butler at Washington led the team.

In the near future, Gliese 411-b would make a great example to test the new generation of powerful telescopes, starting with the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) and the James Webb Space Telescope, which are both will be launched in the following years. The study is going to be published in "The Astrophysical" journal.
