The number of 'Alien' species increased continuously over the last 200 years. This shows a possible domination in the next few decades.
Senckenberg Research Institute and Natural History Museum recently announced a report pertaining to the amicable increase of alien species worldwide. The data is based on research and reports accumulated over the last 200 years showing a possible alien species domination few decades from now.
Dr. Hanno from the said university stands out to his belief that it was alien species which increased faster than other groups of organisms on all continents. More so, Dr. Hanno believes that there are no any signs of quantity slow-down on fishes and barring mammals. For him, this could mean a possible domination in the next few decades.
According to Science Daily, 45 scientists from all over the world contributed to fill a database of species' nativity along with the date an alien species was first seen. On the record, the group had come up to the result of more than 16,000 alien species from 45,000 records have accumulated. This resulted in 37% alien species record from 1970 up to 2014.
Phys reported the study showed the trend between the alien species differs among taxonomic groups. To everyone's surprise, the trends attributed to human activities. On the record, the peak increase of alien species was seen in 1996 at the quantity of 585 counts worldwide. This results in a total of 1.5 new alien species add each day.
Thus, the data gathered featuring the groundbreaking increase of the alien species is expected to result in the future increase in regional species richness. However, this will cause complications in the ecosystem imbalance and results to negative issues. If this will continue, the domination of alien species in the next few decades will result to the global homogenization of floras and faunas or worst extinction of native species globally. Meanwhile, before this happens policies and laws are currently in force to force prevention of alien species domination.
