A new method has used simulated Martian and lunar dust to 3D print flexible, tough rubber tools.The near lack of an atmosphere and weather on Mars does have some advantages, as does the highly reduced gravity compared to Earth. The 3D printed buildings will not need to withstand strong winds or gravitational pressure, which will add to the longevity of the infrastructure.

As China’s space agency continues to move forward in its ambitious space program, the lunar orbiter marks a great first success for the mission, and undoubtedly shows its growing presence as a space agency in the world. The eight day turn-around trip came to a close this morning after the test lunar orbiter landed about 500 km away from Beijing, in the Siziwang Banner of China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region according to the nation’s Xinhua state-run news agency.

Predicted to occur this Thursday, Oct. 23, the off-center new moon will pass in front of the sun creating a partial solar eclipse seen across the United States. Though the predicted visibility will range anywhere from twelve to seventy percent of clarity, researchers at NASA expect that the event will be widely visible across the entire continental US.
