AMD Believes Windows 10 Scheduler Not To Blame For Ryzen CPU Performance Degradation

Tech enthusiasts may have already heard that Windows 10 scheduler is causing a degradation in AMD Ryzen's CPU performance. However, AMD does not reportedly believe that Windows 10 scheduler is to blame for the several reports about the incorrect scheduling of the Ryzen processor threads. Seemingly, the differences between the software architecture of the operating systems are likely to cause the reported problems.

The team behind the California-based multinational semiconductor company published a blog post on its community page that discussed its views on the Windows 10 issue. As per the blog, AMD ran an investigation on the thread scheduling of Ryzen processors to figure out if the CPU is not working properly with Windows 10 scheduler.

The findings suggested that Windows 10 scheduler is in no way causing its processor's poor performance. Instead, the research claimed that any changes in Ryzen CPU's performances between Windows 10 and Windows 7 might be because of something else such as the structural difference of the two platforms and not its thread scheduling system.

AMD also believes that though there are reports saying there are issues with Ryzen's cores and threads, other applications are already utilizing the CPU's capabilities. Additionally, the company is already looking to implement small changes to better improve the processor's performance that will optimize current and future applications.

AMD's investigation followed claims that Windows 10 scheduler cannot correctly identify Ryzen's simultaneous multi-threading (SMT), which apparently holds back the CPU's performance. According to a report from Digital Trends, Microsoft's OS scheduling system makes use of Ryzen's main cores when it should be utilizing SMTs. This improper core allocation reportedly negates the processor's capability.

Though AMD does not believe that Windows 10 scheduler is causing the problem, it did not discount the idea that Ryzen processors might be performing differently on Windows 10 compared to other operating systems. But since the company is aware of the concern, there's a possibility for it to soon figure out what's causing the degradation of Ryzen CPU on Windows 10.
