Project Zero Found Terrible Wi-FI Chip Bug Having Potentiality To Destroy Apple, Google Devices

Google's Project Zero recently generated a wide range of security measures and therefore it has long been in the buzz among tech & gadget fans. The project team managed to locate harmful bugs in the chips made byCloudflare and LastPass. Now the researchers' group found out potential bugs in Broadcom's Wi-fi chip too. Broadcom's is the sole manufacturer of wi-fi chips for Apple's iPhones, Google's Nexus range and some of the exclusive handsets of Samsung as well.

According to Tech Crunch, Project Zero researcher Gal Beniamini expressed much about the relatively dangerous bug and how it can harm anyone's smartphone. He stated that the bug in Broadcom's wi-fi chip can make one's identity exploited by an attacker. The bug is so powerful that it can allow anyone to trespass on another person's device while they are using the same shared Wi-Fi network. Benaimini further claimed that with the help of this bug one easily enter another's device using the same Wi-Fi connectivity and thereby compromise and misuse his/her identity.

Later, he, being the representative of Project Zero, also demonstrated the terrible threat through an easy operation of "full device takeover by Wi-Fi proximity alone, requiring no user interaction." Just after the discovery of this violent bug Apple immediately launched a fix for the issue. As per a report by ZDNet, the Cupertino tech giant quickly released patch 10.3.1 which comprises powerful measures to get rid of this threat. Although, the company denied to comment on this take. It should be noted in this context that iOS 10.3 was released just a week back from now.

As per potential sources, the above said bug mostly affected the next-gen iPhone series, beginning from iPhone 5 to iPhone 7 Plus. The users of Apple iPhones are recommended to urgently update their handsets with iOS 10.3.1. Project Zero is also expected to reveal more such harmful threats hidden in major devices for safeguarding the users from the hands of attackers and hackers.
