Samsung Getting Rid Of Its Bixby Button Remapping Capability On The Galaxy S8 & S8 Plus

Samsung has some bad news for its Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus patrons. One helpful application that was supposed to be included on the handset on its release was taken out by the giant tech company. So, what force the South Korean tech company to get rid of its Bixby button remapping capability?

Dubbed as "Project Dream", Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus was Samsung flagship smartphone for this year. Since last year, many consumers are already waiting to have both devices available in the market and others say that it can outclass other smartphone brands to be launched this year.

Many believed that the launch of Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will reclaim the prominence of Samsung as the leading tech company after the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. As the anticipated release of both handset is just around the corner, the South Korean tech company have announced that they are getting rid of one helpful app that was earlier included in the package.

According to XDA Developers, Samsung officials confirm that they are removing the remapping capability of its Bixby button both for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. Usually, an over the air (OTA) update will be available for newly release the smartphone to fix bugs that were not detected during a Q&A procedure.

However, one OTA update appears to be eliminating the ability to remap the Bixby button forcing Samsung to take out the All in one Gestures application. The All in one Gestures app is a helpful app that would reprogram the dedicated Bixby key to open another app just like the Camera. Apparently, the application is not completely working for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.

GSMArena further added that flar2, an XDA Recognized Developer, use to help the remapping of Bixby button for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus using his Button Mapper. The initial test works well but after he downloaded the latest system update from Samsung the application just stop.

Flar2 discovered that Samsung newly modified system intercept Bixby button's key events preventing it from connecting with the Accessibility Services. But, one Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus reviewer from the US say that the device is still up to date and has the ability to remap the Bixby button as of this moment.
