Radeon Pro Duo Graphics Card: AMD Breaks The Trend And Presents A Slower Card Compared To Its Predecessor

AMD has surprisingly opted to bring the new Radeon Pro Duo graphics card that is slower than the previous one in 2016. The graphics card contains two fastest GPUs.

The newly announced Radeon Pro Duo graphics card is designed following the Polaris architecture. According to the PC World, the Pro Duo of 2016 provides 16 teraflops, but the new one supports 11.45 teraflops of the single-precision performance. That means the new Pro Duo of the AMD is lower than the last one released in 2016. Interestingly, the previous one is designed following the Fiji architecture.

So far every time the efficiency of the performance increases with the new GPU generation. Though, this time AMD decided to reduce the essential power draw in the new Radeon Pro Duo graphics card. Even the company decreases the number of the important processing cores in the Pro Duo.

This has ultimately forced the new Pro Duo to generate less heat as it draws only 250 watts of the power. On the contrary, the old one draws 350 watts. In a word, AMD's new Radeon Pro Duo graphics card contains some meaningful and significant changes compared to its predecessor.

Significantly the launch price of the new Radeon Pro Duo graphics card will begin at $999. That means the new Pro Duo will be available with a $500 less price than its predecessor. Consumers can avail the graphics card by the end of the May. One thing is clear AMD is approaching to allure more consumers with new affordable GPUs.

The new Radeon Pro Duo graphics card is equipped with new GPU, a better version of the Radeon Pro WX 7100 that has single GPU. AMD actually designed the latest Pro Duo with two WX 7100 chips to increase the performance. Professionals who tend to perform with better workload can easily avail this new graphics card.

Designers can take the Radeon Pro Duo graphics card to perform with the 8K content. To get a better image refresh they can connect an 8K monitor with two cables that can produce a refresh rate of 60Hz. The graphics card also supports the 4K monitors with the same refresh rate. Also, the AMD's Liquid VR technologies help to use the GPU in order to have new VR content.

Tom's Hardware reported that the Radeon Pro Duo graphics card helps the designers to use more than one software package at a time. Even they can avail the essential parallel computing power to increase the rate of different intensive tasks. This new graphics card plays an important role in performing parallel the graphic as well as the arithmetic instructions.

Modern the tech arena always explores different graphics card of different manufacturers and brands. No doubt AMD is currently playing a leading role in this field. But, at the same time, it is also true that the company's new Radeon Pro Duo graphics card has a strong competitor. The healthy competition exists between the Titan XP and the Quadro GPUS of Nvidia and the new Pro Duo.
