Samsung's AT&T version of the popular Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone has been leaked by streaming service Netflix. The cell services provider wants Samsung to have another go at their military-grade devices. The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active had its codename 'Cruiser' leaked to the internet. The new smartphone was included in the list of all eligible smartphones capable of streaming Netflix.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 active smartphone is reportedly named as SM-G892A indicating that it is indeed the 'Active' variant of the popular Galaxy S8 smartphone released worldwide this year. The smartphone will actively support HD streaming as confirmed by Netflix. Like the existing flagship devices, the upcoming smartphone will also be IP68 water and dust resistant as reported by GSMArena. The device will resist water up to a depth of 1.5m.
While the existing Galaxy S8 smartphone doesn't have any physical buttons in the front, the report speculates whether the new Galaxy S8 Active will have them due to functionality issues in the touchscreen display since it's projected to be a military-grade display. One thing to be noted is, previous two smartphones have come out with physical buttons on the front just below the display.
Apart from that, there's pretty much nothing that's available at least in terms of the device specifications. The Galaxy S8 Active smartphone will be running the latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out of the box. A separate report from Tom's Guide claims the new device was already leaked by pro-Samsung website SamMobile.
If there are no major changes at least in its internal hardware implementation, a Snapdragon 835 chipset with Adreno 540 graphics and 4GB of RAM is a possibility. With an unchanged 12MP camera on the back with an 8MP camera on the front, The Galaxy 8 Active might also carry the same battery size of 3000mAh onboard.
