75-Million-Year-Old Armored Dinosaur Species Found In Montana Named After Ghostbusters Character, Zuul

Recently, archeologists from Royal Ontario Museum found a 75-Million-Years-old fossil of a new Armoured Dinosaur species with a horn, hammer-like-tail. Archeologist first located this fossil in the region of Hill County, Montana, USA.

Basically, this Armoured Dinosaur is a derived species of an Ankylosauria group, especially a close relative to the famous Ankylosaurs. While this new species has some close resemblance to the spooky monstrous demigod Zuul which actually belongs to Ankylosaurian species. Zuul is the fictional monstrous demigod creature in 1984's Sci-fi film Ghostbusters.

Because of its large Sledgehammer-like tail, this Armoured Dinosaur species is called Crurivastator means Destroyer Of Shins. These powerful tail clubs could inflict serious damage on opponents, such as predatory Theropods or maybe even other Ankylosaurs.

Moreover, the new studies related to this derived Ankylosaur described in Royal Society Open Science. The body-length of Armoured Dinosaurs is around 6meters or 20 feet with a hammer-like tail which covered half of the length. With this, it's weighted around more than 2.5 tons, similar to the size of a White rhinoceros.

Most of the species belong to Ankylosauria group is mainly herbivorous dinosaurs. Along with, the majority of this dinosaur species have armor in the form of bony osteoderms. However, this Armoured Dinosaur also has similar characteristics of an Ankylosaurs with bony armor. These species had wide flat bodies, long tails, walked on four legs. According to skull analysis, this creature had four horns on the skull, one behind and one under each eye.

Most notably this armored dinosaur species featured with a Sledgehammer-like tail which could resemble another ankylosaurs group called the Ankylosaurids. Regarding this, researchers from Royal Ontario Museum emphasized that Ankylosaurids is one of the sub-group of Ankylosaurs having tail clubs. It's an amazing biological weapon effective to defend themselves from predators.

However, paleontologists haven't yet completely recovered the fossil from the large pile of stones. Practically, it's very rare to discover a complete fossil of an Ankylosaurs rather than some fragments. As of now, Scientists are able to unearth a complete skull fragment and fossil fragments of the tail region. Once Archeologists are thought that North American region have only one or two species of Ankylosaur, however, this new discovery is changing their mind.
