Blade X Max: ZTE’s 6-inch Smartphone Costs $150, runs Android Nougat OS

Chinese smartphone maker ZTE has been performing well of late due to recent successes of all their new smartphones. Their recent release into the markets includes the Z Max Pro and Max XL which are a great choice for its selling price. Now, the company has announced the ZTE Blade Max X making it exclusive to Cricket wireless for a very competitive price.

The ZTE Blade X Max is on paper, very similar to the Max XL smartphone that's currently offered on cell service providers like Sprint with some minor changes. Details from 9To5Google indicate the new smartphone will be offered in a color choice of Blue and Silver. Hardware specifications of the smartphone include a Snapdragon 435 chipset onboard with 2GB of memory.

Storage capacities of the ZTE Blade X Max include 32GB of inbuilt storage which is doubled over that of the MAX XL which has its storage limited to 16GB. The smartphone is equipped with a 13MP camera in the back. The phone also features a fingerprint sensor which for the price is definitely a great implementation considering a lot of $150 smartphones do not come with one.

The Blade X Max from ZTE also houses a 3400mAh battery that also features Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 charging technology. The phone runs the latest Android Nougat operating system v7.1.1 out of the box with a same stock, vanilla experience. As noted from a report by Android Authority, the phone is currently sold only in the US.

That said, new Cricket customers can purchase the phone for $99 on the first day of its availability. Early birds for the Blade X Max from ZTE, can get a discount of $50. For its selling price, the smartphone is very much adequate for average usage. For those people looking for other alternatives at a similar price, the Zenfone 3 MAX from Acer comes very close in competition, with a bigger battery capacity and a larger screen for a price decrease of $20.
