Recently spotted official images and specs of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 reveal the handset's key features. Last year, Xiaomi launched Redmi 4 and the upcoming one will be its successor.
Images of the upcoming flagship handset of the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi have recently surfaced on Weibo. The leaked official images and specifications of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 suggest two variants of this model. The upcoming handset will be available in two variants.
One variant will have 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor, and the other one will feature Snapdragon 625 processor. Leaked specs also indicate the different amount of storage and RAM options. The new Xiaomi Redmi 5 will be available with 4GB and 3GB RAM options.
The upcoming Xiaomi Redmi 5 will sport 3680mAh battery, though Redmi 4 contains 4100mAh battery. Like its predecessor, Redmi 5 will also feature 5-inch IPS display. The full-HD display will support a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 will also have different internal storage options like 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB. Each variant with different internal storage must support the MicroSD card option to provide the expandable storage capability. According to Android Crunch, the handset will run the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and it will be a dual SIM smartphone.
For better picture quality the Xiaomi Redmi 5 will contain a 5-megapixel front camera and one 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. Redmi 5 will come with various connectivity options, like 3G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and others. A fingerprint scanner must be visible on the back below the rear camera. The Android Authority reported that the smartphone will arrive in early Q4 or Q3 2017.
Apart from these features, the leaked specs also indicate the price of the different variants of the Xiaomi Redmi 5. The variant with Snapdragon 625 processor, 16GB of internal storage, and 3GB of RAM will have a price tag of 859 yuan or around $125. The cost price of the same model with 32GB inbuilt storage will be 1039 yuan or around $152.
Another variant with Snapdragon 630 processor, 32GB of internal storage, and 3GB of RAM must have the price of 1099 yuan or around $162. Now the same variant with 64GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM will have a price tag of 1299 yuan or around $191. The important thing is people have to wait to see whether these leaked specs are similar to the actual Xiaomi Redmi 5 handset or not.
