The wildfire in the Amazon has indeed grown into record numbers and it has been going on for days. It has become so big that even the satellites from outer space were able to get images of it from out there.
According to NASA, They were able to capture images of the wild wire in the Amazon through the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer from its Aqua Satellite. The fires from the states of Rondonia, Amazonas Para and Mato Grosso between the days of August 11 through August 13.
This isn't the first one recorded in Brazil this year. In fact, in the past seven months of this year, there has been 72, 843 fires already recorded, with more than half of this number was recorded in the Amazon. This is according to the report released by the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), Brazil's space research office. This figure marks roughly an 84% increase in the number of fires recorded at the same time in 2018. Since the recording began in 2013, this has been the highest ever recorded, INPE added.
Amazonas has recently declared a state of emergency due to the growing forest fires. Considered as the largest state in Brazil, this area supplies more than half of the much-needed oxygen of the world. The burning emergency in the Amazons isn't a problem only of Brazil, but a problem that the world should carefully look into.
In the region of the Amazon, fires should be rare throughout the year as the wet weather prevents them from spreading or even starting. However, due to the ever-changing climate of the world because of global warming, the months of July and August typically increases the fire incidents as they mark the coming of the dry season in the Amazon, NASA reveals.
