The Tesla Cybertruck was recently a much-talked-about topic in the tech industry after it became one of the biggest April Fools' Day pranks ever reported.
On April 1, CarBuzz reported what it said was "the most shocking story of the year," Tesla CEO Elon Musk has confirmed its long-awaited Cybertruck's production "has been cancelled."
The said report is far from reality as Tesla's pickup is not cancelled. Musk has been aggressive in promoting the electric vehicle, highlighting its features, specs, price, and performance. Essentially, Cybertruck is designed with an exterior shell built for ultimate durability and passenger protection.
Starting with an almost "impenetrable exoskeleton," every component of the vehicle is designed for superior robustness and endurance, from what is described on the Tesla website as "Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled" stainless-steel structural skin to armor glass by Tesla.
Tri-Motor
A Car and Driver review specified that this Tesla electric vehicle comes with not only one, not only two, but three electric motors. Whereas the single-motor truck features rear-wheel drive, the two- and three-motor prototypes have all-wheel drive. Tesla, for its part, has claimed it would go zero to 60 minutes per hour in 6.5 seconds and top out at 110 minutes per hour.
Also indicated in the review is this Tesla pickup's feature, an adjustable air suspension that can be raised or lower on the fly. It also offers up to 16 inches of ground clearance.
The said features are on top of the 35-degree approach and 28-degree departure angles, and this large EV could prove to be a piece of formidable off-road equipment.
Battery Range and Life
The company may not have revealed the size of Cybertruck's batteries that will power it up. Nonetheless, each model will be designed with a 250-kilowatt charging cable.
Certainly, it will have access to a vast network of Superchargers of Tesla. Meanwhile, the vehicle's driving range varies according to the number of motors, although the company claims that a one-motor vehicle comprises a range of more than 250 miles.
On the other hand, the two-motor vehicle has an over 300-mile range, while the top-tier tri-motor EV should offer over 500 miles on a single charge. Since no official ratings are available for the Tesla Cybertruck, electric vehicle enthusiasts can only go off the preliminary Tesla's approximations.
Similarly, they need to wait too until they get their hands on a real production vehicle model to test its impressive maximum drive range in the actual world.
Cybertruck Production, Definitely Not Cancelled
Science Times reported that Cybertruck's production is not starting until the first quarter of next year. This doesn't mean, though, that the EV has been scrapped.
According to an HITC report, the futuristic Cybertruck of Tesla is one of the most anticipated vehicles worldwide. Nevertheless, many ambitious buyers were reportedly "panic-stricken" when they saw reports that this electric pickup truck "has been cancelled." The company, for its part, has not given any official statement yet. This EV is one of the most significant initiatives for Tesla.
However, the Cybertruck developer has not yet addressed the CarBuzz prank report that the production plans for the EV are dead. More so, people with knowledge of the Tesla plans said that the delay in production is the reason for the vehicle's changing functions and features, contradicting the development of costs "far exceeding." The price of a Tesla Cybertruck starts at $39,900.
