Authorities, Veterinarians Investigate Cruelty of Zoo Owner After Leaving Lions Hungry, Making Them Eat Their Own Tails

An investigation is currently going on after an owner of a sickening wildlife refuge where lean hungry lions chewed their tails had gone on the run.

As specified in a report from The Daily Star, the owner of a huge Mexico-based wildlife center has gone on the run following the discovery of activists of the place that was in "horrendous condition and the animals were mistreated."

Heartbreaking video footage from the Japan-based Black Jaguar-WHite Tiger Foundation charity Mexico City has enraged and startled animal lovers worldwide.

It depicts animals in terrible situations, needing to eat their flesh because of extreme hunger.

Rescuing Emaciated Animals

Worried about the backlash, it seems that Eduardo Mauricio Moises Serio has seemingly vanished. Various animal rights groups have reported the center, which claims to save animals from adverse conditions at breeding centers and circuses, to the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection in Mexico, with one of the groups accusing the owner of the foundation of abandoning, not to mention mistreating hundred of giant cats.

Yael Ruiz, an activist, first reported the foundation to the authorities after he worked there for two years, a Mail Online report specified. Moreover, animal activist Arturo Islas Allende explained that the place is currently under the authorities' control, the owner is a "fugitive from justice," he has not shown up anywhere.

The activist also said that they have just met with the authorities of Mexico City so veterinarians can begin rescuing the emaciated animals.

He continued that the foundation did not have the right papers or legal permits. More so, the reality is it was total clandestine.

Bones and Remnants of Huge Cats Discovered

Startled inspectors have discovered pits with what they thought were the bones and remnants of over 200 huge cats.

The area had 17 monkeys and a pair of coyotes. Allende also said there are pits with "bones of buries animals."

According to the foundation, they had 400 felines yesterday, a number carried out with the authorities, and only 180 to 190 are accounted for; less than 50 percent of them are alive.

Allende, who alleged that the owner unlawfully sold lion, leopard cubs, and jaguar, also claimed that employees had not been paid for months.

The harrowing video of giant cats at the refuge reveals some so weak that they cannot stand anymore. Others seem to have agonizing sores in their body.

Furthermore, the owner did not pay the rent and had approximately US$48,800. In connection to this, the foundation was given millions of dollars in donations that did not reach the animals and is associated with tax evasion.

The cubs' breeding was ongoing. More so, the reality is that the foundation placed animals in the hands of buyers and, over time, they turned into a problem for the customers, and they were sent back to the same cages.
