Breast Implants are the reason for a woman's inflamed body and devitalizing illness, as she shared her struggle when she had her implants in a TikTok post.

Melissa Lima, or TikTok user @melissalima713 had severe pains seen throughout her inflamed body; later, she found out that the cause of her debilitating illness was her breast implants when it was taken out of her body.

As the implants were removed, she discovered mold in them. Melissa explained that after experiencing various symptoms and ailments, her friend encouraged her to check into her breast implant illness.

Get to Know: Breast Implant Illness

The Cleveland Clinic defines breast implant illness (BII) as the symptoms someone may experience after getting breast implants. Common symptoms of BII include fatigue, joint pain, rash, and brain fog. It may be related to autoimmune or inflammatory responses. And treatment of BII involves implant removal.

They added that people had reported more than 50 symptoms that had impacted their musculoskeletal system, ability to think, gain focus, and overall body. The Cleveland Clinic also mentioned other signs, including joint and muscle pain, psychological illnesses such as anxiety and depression, and hair loss.

Based on the Cleveland Clinic's report, several studies show improvement in symptoms after the immediate removal of the implant. One study showed improvement within three months of surgery.

Another woman posted a video series of her discussing her decision to remove her breast implants after experiencing breast implant illness.

Colorado-based woman Jessi Jean had the augmentation surgery in 2013 when she was 23. Jean fought against breast implant illness for eight years before she decided to remove it finally.

She wanted to feel "more feminine," so she opted for "smooth round silicone gel mentor implants," which she mentioned that she couldn't afford, so she put them on credit for $12,000.

Implants' Swirling Brown Dots

Melissa said in her video that she first got her breast implants in 2002 because she felt insecure with her body.

However, starting in 2010, she said that she started experiencing severe joint pain, inflammation, and depression. Melissa searched for an answer and went to several doctors but could not find out what was happening.

Featuring a montage of videos and photos, she shared how she faced different challenges and struggled not to cook for his boys as a single mom.

In October 2020, one of her friends suggested looking into breast implant illness, and she decided to remove her implants, where the video features a clip of her removed implant with brown dots swirling in the liquid like a fish in a bowl. In a matter of hours, Melissa saw a sudden change in her face and body.

TikTok users share their feelings about Melissa's decision to remove her implants. After Melissa's post, several TikTok users shared their breast implant removal journey.
