An aerospace company based in Miami revealed that their flying cars will be soaring in the skies in two years. However, it may cost around $350,000 to purchase one unit.
Flying Cars Could Be Available in the US in Two Years
Doron Merdinger, Doroni Aerospace CEO, explained this launch to TMZ. Merdinger also mentioned that this flagship project is already undergoing testing in Florida.
As per the Daily Mail, Merdinger likened the flying car, dubbed the Doroni H1, to a roadster that flies. It is reportedly designed for shorter travels and could move at a remarkable speed of 140 miles per hour. Sweden Posts English reports that one limitation of the craft is that it may not fly over areas that are densely populated.
Nevertheless, just recently, Doroni Aerospace conducted its first untethered flight using a prototype. The successful endeavor implies that a full model will be ready in the coming months.
Doroni H1 will likely be certified by the Federal Aviation Administration as a "light sport aircraft." This means that to drive it, one would only need a driver's license and would have to undergo 20 hours' worth of training.
According to the Daily Mail, the company mentioned in a statement that they are set to sell and lease 22 units during their third year and 722 units during their fifth year. They think that the H1 eVTOL will be revenue-generating. It may start with the first responders, armed forces, law enforcement, security companies, and recreational users.
From thereon, the company plans to position itself for the possibility of being acquired by international defense contractors, ridesharing firms, or automobile manufacturers.
While previous estimations projected that the starting price of the flying car would be $195,000, Merdringer mentioned to TMZ that this price has gone up because of the rising material costs.
Doroni was able to raise over $2.7 million from more than 1,550 investors through StartEngine.com, a platform for crowdfunding.
Flying Car Features
As per the Daily Mail, the flying car will have wheels and two wing sets that have huge ducted fans. Its payload will also be able to cover up to 500 pounds. The company said that these features make the Doroni H1 look like a drone hovering in the skies.
The car will also have three axes of motion, namely, yaw, roll, and pitch. It is also expected to have a range of 60 miles and a maximum speed of 225 kph.
The flying car will be a fully electric vehicle. As for its battery, Merdringer says that the battery can reach 80% from 20% in around 20 minutes. Charging can be done in one's garage.
The company explained that they were able to design, build, test, and lift off a full-scale prototype weighing 643 pounds. This is the X8 prototype eVTOL.
