Showing off its latest Family Hub refrigerator, Samsung indeed stole the limelight during its Consumers Electronic Show (CES) press conference on Tuesday. At a price tag of $5,000, you can bring this baby right into your kitchen.
The latest four-door refrigerator is allegedly equipped with cameras and sensors and has smart capabilities as well as a huge touchscreen display on the top right door. It can take photos of the fridge's content, and it can be accessed real time via a smartphone app.
"Even if you're at the store and forget to check on what you need for dinner that night, you can easily pull up the Samsung Smart Home app and have a look right into your Family Hub fridge," the company said. But to top all of those technologies, Samsung's Family Hub can make grocery shopping a lot more convenient. Using the "Groceries by Master Card" app, the Family Hub can order and purchase grocery supplies online. Just wow.
MasterCard is offering the service in New York metropolitan area in partnership with FreshDirect and ShopRite. Furthermore, it is also incorporated MyWebGrocer, an online platform that offers service for grocery chains and packaged consumer goods, to permit grocers transact via the refrigerator. "We're really trying to go beyond the payment and extend out to other devices where consumers are in a commerce context," Chief Commercial Officer of Master Card Betty DeVita said.
Despite its cutting-edge design, Samsung still brought almost every family's ancient custom of magnetizing photos. Using the 21.5-inch 1080p display, users can display old-time portraits and messages, bringing back good old-time memories. It can also allow users to surf the Internet and play music using its built-in Bluetooth-enabled speaker.
The fridge can be a tracker too that can constantly keep record of family members' eating habit. Samsung's latest fridge technology is part of its "life hacks" platform and will hit the shelves in spring at $5,000.
