Breast cancer has been one of the leading causes of death among women around the globe and detecting it as early as possible would be beneficial yet tricky. One breast cancer patient from the United Kingdom shared her alternative examination trick which made her find her lump at its early stage.
According to an article by the Mirror UK, Hayley Browning, a breast cancer patient, discovered her lump in a non-conventional way. Most women take the advice of doctors to have a self-examination of their breasts while standing up. However, Browning did the other way around.
In her Facebook post which was shared a thousand times, Browning shared that she discovered her lump while lying down. Touching it surprised her and what shocked her even more, is that the lump isn't recognizable when she stands up. Even her surgeon wasn't able to touch it when she's standing up and now, she thanked her intuition to check it while lying down or else the lump could have grown bigger.
It was only recently when Browning found out about her breast cancer and she's still adjusting to her new lifestyle. She also shared on her Facebook account that she's already preparing herself for the chemotherapies to come. Despite the upcoming challenges she'll be facing as a breast cancer patient, she still thinks positive and she wanted to be an advocate of breast examinations. Browning further imparted that she will definitely guide fellow breast cancer patients throughout her journey in surviving the big C.
According to US Breast Cancer, statistics show that despite having decreasing trends of breast cancer deaths since 1989, around 40,000 women in the US alone are expected to die because of the disease this year. In 2016, there has been a record of more than 2.8 million women in the US who have a record or history of breast cancer.
Browning and other breast cancer activists want every woman, and even man, in the world to take some minutes off their daily routines to go and check their breasts. Make sure to try the traditional and the alternative tricks in examining your breasts.
