Intel has confirmed Coffee Lake 8th Generation Core Processor Using 14nm Process

There is no doubt that Intel Core processor is set to a good impact on the market releasing a very good quality Core Processors. Though there is no official announcement yet but Intel has confirmed rumors that there will be the fourth generation of CPUs on its 14nm manufacturing process.

Similarly, in this year, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich showed off a 2-in-1 device running on a working 10nm prototype CPU at CES 2017 in last month. If we focused on the latest reports they will target CPUs for product segments where power consumption and heat dissipation is more important, such as slim fanless tablets, ultrabooks, and 2-in-1s.

In the last few years, Intel followed a tick-tock cycle of annual refresh and they are alternating between new architecture and new manufacture until last year. Now the company announced that releasing of Cannonlake Generation would be delayed with a new stopgap called Kaby Lake launched on the existing 14nm process instead.

Intel called this new rhythm Process-Architecture-Optimization, indicating that Kaby Lake will deliver higher performance by virtue of refinements to the 14nm process and that a two-year gap between processes shrinks was no longer realistic.

According to rumor, Intel was planning for the fourth optimization within this cycle which will be called Coffee Lake. It is a refresh version of Kaby Lake for mainstream segments. CannonLake would be introduced in limited quantities and light device.

Now what about 8th generation core, it will be sold as 14 nm processors in the mix of product, not whether its 10nm and 14nm will use in the same architecture. There are some speculations that the features and specs of this processor are going to be quite attractive, Intel has indicated that it expects a 15 percent boost in performance over Kaby Lake, which is the same modest improvement that Kaby Lake has delivered compared to Skylake.

The company has not confirmed about the detail specification and now it seems that Intel will face rejuvenated competition from AMD's Ryzen CPUs which are expected to launch in early march.
