Panda Bao Bao Says Goodbye To U.S. As She Is Going Back To China

The famous panda, Bao Bao, is said to be going back to China. Bao Bao is going to be a part of China's breeding program to increase the number of Pandas in the country.

The national zoo has been celebrating Bao Bao's upcoming departure all weekend long. They have hosted different events just for the lovely panda. Her departure flight is at Dulles International Airport on February 21, reported Mail Online. The Washington Smithsonian's National Zoo has been the home of the 3-year-old baby panda.

Washington Post has reported that many Americans will definitely miss Bao Bao. As her name suggests, Bao Bao is 'precious' and a 'treasure' to many people there. She has brought smiles to many citizens of the country. Many people were reminiscing the times that they saw the little Bao Bao, her first birthday and other celebrations.

However, Bao Bao will have a fresh start at a new home at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda. She will be inside a shipping crate and will board the "Panda Express". It is a FedEx plane that will fly her together with her panda keeper, a veterinarian and more than 55 pounds of bamboo and treats to the Chinese city of Chengdu.

Bao Bao will be leaving her family behind including younger brother Bei Bei. Her older brother Tai Shan has lived there since 2010. It is because all pandas that are in the Washington Smithsonian's National Zoo will be shipped to China when they reach the age of four or even earlier, as long as it is before their breeding age.

China is currently trying to breed more pandas to be placed in the wild. As of the moment, there are approximately 1,800 pandas in the wild in China. Bao Bao will be having a mate and will make babies and a family of her own in China.
