Samsung unveiled the latest addition to its convertible lineup, the "Galaxy Book" at this year's Mobile Week Congress held in Barcelona, Spain. The two hybrid tablets, 10 and 12 inches in size, have Windows 10 as the Operating System, come with keyboards and are portable. They also support the new "S Pen" features.
According to Engadget, both the variants of the Samsung "Galaxy Book" come with some unique features that differentiate them from rival Windows 10 convertibles. The 12-inch Samsung "Galaxy Book" has a 7.4 mm profile, powered by Intel's latest Kaby Lake Core i5 processor, an LTE radio, 4GB or 8GB of RAM and a 128GB or 256GB SSD. The 10-inch Samsung "Galaxy Book" has all the above features, except that it comes with a Core M processor.
Both the Samsung "Galaxy Book" variants will support the new S Pen features, which can detect up to 4096 levels of pressure with its fine 0.7 mm nib. S Pen features like Screen Off Memo and Air Command shortcut menu for outlining screenshots and annotating PDF's are also available on the Samsung "Galaxy Book". The pen's ability to understand the angle at which the user tilts and integrate them into compatible programs like Adobe Photoshop is a new feature that has been added to the S Pen.
According to Cnet, the Samsung "Galaxy Book" will give tough competition to the Microsoft Surface Pro 4. The Samsung "Galaxy Book" dons a super AMOLED screen, which blows away the full HD screen of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4. The Flow software exclusively available for the Samsung Galaxy Devices is also included in the Samsung "Galaxy Book". It allows text messages to sync across Samsung Galaxy Devices, just like iMessage syncs across iPhones, iPads and Mac computers.
Unlike the other two-in-one Windows 10 tablet hybrids, the Samsung "Galaxy Book" with its svelte dimensions make it look and feel more like an Android Tablet. Most tablet-hybrids, compared to the Samsung "Galaxy Book" have thicker designs that accommodate built-in stands, powerful processors, and a variety of ports.
The Samsung "Galaxy Book" impressively packs full PC-like potential inside of an ultra-compact build. The included keyboard and S Pen also add to its productivity appeal. The pricing and availability of Samsung "Galaxy Book" are yet to be announced.
