Lenovo ThinkPad E570 Review: Latest Kaby Lake Processor Improves Performance

Lenovo ThinkPad E570 is mid ranged business laptop. After the smaller E470, this larger affordable ThinkPad from the E line-up is just as convincing. Here is the insight of the new E line-up ThinkPad.

Lenovo launches its E line-up ThinkPads first on the market. It already announced affordable Lenovo ThinkPad E570 in the fall of last year and more expensive ThinkPad T/X/L series followed shortly before the CES 2017.

ThinkPad E470 was the first Kaby Lake ThinkPad for testing and now Lenovo ThinkPad E570 is launched. As written in Notebook Check, E570 is the direct successor of the E560 and it represents the first larger update of the E500 series since E550.

Lenovo ThinkPad E570 attracts students, personal users and small businesses by its low price. According to Bill Bennett, ThinkPad E570 is bulky by 2017 standards. It measures 376 × 262 × 34 mm and weighs 2.4 kg. It is because of its large 15.6" display and a DVD drive.

There is a lot of plastic around the screen. Lenovo ThinkPad E570 is big because of the battery and a gap that gives some room for air flow through vents. It is thick and robust which adds protection but the user will need a backpack to move it.

Lenovo ThinkPad E570 is mid ranged so a user who wants the laptop with a rich look, this is not for them. Bigger size gives an advantage of a full-size keyboard with numeric keys and bigger screen but it is not handy all the time.

It is strange that there are two backspace keys and one delete key in the top right corner. The touchpad is small and erratic. Lenovo ThinkPad E570 does not have a keyboard backlight. It is not a touchscreen laptop but as the laptop is cheap it is not expected from it.

One best thing about Lenovo ThinkPad E570 is its latest Kaby Lake processor. It is more video optimised and power efficient than last year's processors. Though Lenovo says the battery will last for eight hours but generally it works for around six hours which is average.

There are three USB ports with HDMI and Ethernet ports. There is a space for a multi-format card reader and an audio jack. Lenovo ThinkPad E570 is quite old-fashioned as it is not touchscreen laptop, there is a hard drive instead of SSD and it is also bulky.

Many people miss DVD drive options on latest laptops but it is there in E570. Overall it is perfect for small businesses and personal users who don't need it in travelling.
