Maria van Kerkhove, an infectious disease epidemiologist and the COVID-19 technical lead for the WHO, tried to clear "misunderstandings" about her statements on Monday, claiming that it is very rare for asymptomatic people to spread the virus.
Researchers fear that too many among us are "asymptomatic spreaders". Someone who feels well most likely won't take extra precautions like putting on a mask or isolating themselves from the public.
