Bixby voice assistant won't be operational on the flagship handsets of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. The new devices will be shipped from April 21 this year. The quantum of loss in sales for smartphone giant is hazy because voice assistant as a feature is not that appealing to consumers as the other features like battery life and camera quality.
According to a statement given to The Verge, Samsung accepted that Bixby's headline feature of voice control won't be made available with the device launch. With the device launch key features like Vision, Home and Reminder will be available with the global launch of the Galaxy S8. Therefore, the new users of Galaxy S8 can use Bixby Vision - Bixby's augmented reality camera features and also use Bixby Home which is a pane of widgets. Maybe in a later software update, the software giant might incorporate the Bixby voice assistant.
The major difference between Siri and Bixby Voice Assistant is that Bixby can perform manual tasks better than Siri, like editing a photo, compose and send an email. The feature has been promoted by boasting about Bixby Voice that "Anything you can do with touch, you can do with voice." Samsung strives to ship the device with its hallmark feature by its latest update this spring. According to CNET, Samsung declared that the preorders for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are substantially higher than the preorders for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
All the announcements pertaining to Bixby Voice Assistant, Home, Vision and Reminder exemplifies mad dash the software giant us facing in voice assistant fray after the acquisition of ViV Labs past October 2016. Samsung has detailed that Voice Controls integrated with key native apps and a limited number of languages will be made available during the launch.
