Google Pixel, Pixel XL Successors: 3 Devices Leaked To All Run Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 Chipset

As the Google Pixel and Pixel XL was a huge success, another 3 Pixel devices were discovered in Google’s AOSP. The smartphones were said to have the codenames of Taimen, Walleye and Muskie and are expected to run the latest Snapdragon 835 chipset this year.

According to Gizbot, three new Google Pixel devices were spotted at Android Open Source Project online. The discovered devices has the codename of Taimen, Walleye and Muskie. Google AOSP code for the Pixel devices was found to be MSM8998. In which, MSM8998 is the model number of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, which is now packed in Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.

While no hints was received from Google itself, numerous speculations have still been rampant. The first was mentioned to be that Taimen would be a tablet running on Snapdragon 835 after the Pixel C. Yet, others said that it would be a smartphone. Others also mentioned that it might be the successor to the Motorola Nexus 6.

With that said, the three expected Google Pixel devices is the successor indeed of Pixel and Pixel XL. Muskie will be the successor of the original Pixel while Walleye was expected to be the 2017 version of the Pixel XL. However, no hints or release date has been given by the California-based company per GSM Arena.

Another theory is that Google would release an affordable version of Google’s Pixel, the Pixel 2B. But Rick Osterloh, the Senior Vice President for Hardware for Google mentioned that Pixel series would remain premium. Speculations for the three spotted upcoming devices were raging as well.

The three upcoming Google Pixel devices are being not expected anymore to have the 3.5mm audio jack. Of course, the devices are expected to come in waterproof this time along with powerhouse megapixel sizes for advanced low-light photography.

Nonetheless, the last unconfirmed rumor was mentioned to be that HTC would aid Google in producing their Pixel series smartphones this year. Yet, as usual, no confirmations has been found.
