Acer has come out with a new and unique product that doubles itself as a smartphone. Their new product, the Holo 360 is a 360-degree camera attached to a smartphone. Acer still likes the viewers to use it as a camera first then an actual smartphone.
Acer recently introduced the Holo 360 camera which looks like a competition to Samsung's own 360 camera. It can capture 3D content like other 360-degree cameras in the market can also view VR content or create content for VR headsets. Details from PCWorld mention that it also has a small screen like the normal bar form-factor smartphones.
Acer clearly specifies that the Holo 360 camera isn't actually a complete smartphone but however it is expected to run on Android ecosystem as the report suggests. At the moment, there are no actual hardware specifications regarding their new product.
Acer's Holo 360 camera also supports cellular connectivity compatible with various types of networks. While the compatibility list isn't available yet, not every network might be supported by their new product. The cellular connectivity is introduced to eliminate the need for a desktop to edit and upload the captured content directly to the internet.
Another report, from Trusted Reviews, revealed that users will also be able to make phone calls. The display on the Acer Holo 360 camera is a touchscreen which lets users quickly edit their content and upload it to their social media platform of choice. An added bonus is the addition of onboard Wi-Fi on the new device.
Acer neither revealed the price or a release date for their new Holo 360 camera. The report also mentioned that the exact version of Android's operating system, capable video resolution, other details about the device is still unknown.
Acer's Holo 360 camera will likely compete head-to-head with the Gear 360 camera from Samsung. With two different options for connectivity and a right price for the device, the 360 camera from Acer might be one of the most preferred devices.
