HTC's upcoming smartphone, the HTC U has been leaked online after a popular benchmarking website reported a new listing that doesn't match the codename of any existing devices from the manufacturer. Their new smartphone is expected to be launched sometime in May this year after HTC scheduled a special event in Taiwan.
The new HTC U smartphone has been successfully benchmarked and the scores for the device were listed on the popular website Geekbench. According to reports from Trusted Reviews, the phone codenamed 'HTC CBP' might all but be the HTC U itself that runs on the latest Snapdragon 835 chipset from Qualcomm.
According to earlier reports, there were speculations about the HTC U smartphone carrying the latest generation mobile chipset from Qualcomm. The Snapdragon 835, a 10nm chipset, is currently the best premium end processor out there. The benchmark results uploaded on Apr. 29 also revealed that the smartphone will run on the latest Android Nougat operating system out of the box.
The HTC U smartphone nearly misses the 2,000 mark for single core scores. Meanwhile, other details from WCCFTech hinted that HTC may give a metal construction for a glass alternative instead indirectly leading to further speculations about the possibility of the device supporting wireless charging technology.
Previous rumors have predicted that the upcoming HTC U smartphone will indeed be a glass construction. HTC has scheduled a special event for May 16 in Taiwan possibly indicating its date of unveiling. A 5.5-inch Quad HD display will also support external storage capacities up to a maximum size of 2TB.
Other reports also indicate that the new HTC U smartphone will be IP57 water resistant. The phone will also sport 6GB of memory and will have two cameras. The device will also be equipped with HTC Boomsound audio technology.
