South Korean electronics manufacturer LG is planning for another smartphone launch with rumors on the internet indicating a mini-variant of the current flagship LG G6 smartphone. The LG G6 was released only recently that sports a Snapdragon 821 chip due to non-availability of the latest chip from Qualcomm.
Going into further details about the rumor, LG's upcoming smartphone, the LG G6 Mini is nothing but a little brother of their current flagship device that will have the same display and ratio of the resolution. More details from Phone Radar seem to indicate that the G6 Mini will have a 5.4-inch display on the front with an aspect ratio of 18:9. With a screen to body ratio of just under 80 percent, the pricing for the new smartphone is currently unknown.
Meanwhile, according to details from Android Authority, the LG G6 Mini isn't the official name of the device. In their report, it's mentioned that popular news tabloid Technobuffalo has managed to get access to a confidential document belonging to LG that revealed the new smartphone. Apart from the size of the device and the ratio of its screen, pretty much nothing else has been made public yet.
The report also reveals about the document having an early reference to the device back in 2016 itself hinting that the plans might have been scrapped due to poor sales of the then flagship device, the LG G5. Until LG themselves come out with an announcement about the LG G6 Mini smartphone, everything can be assumed to be only a rumor only due to the lack of precise data available online.
The LG G6, their current flagship smartphone is IP68 dust and water resistant. With a price of $649, it's a great smartphone for its selling price considering it's build quality and the features offered. Hence, the LG G6 Mini too would have to be a value smartphone if LG is looking at successful sales for their upcoming smartphone.
