Streaming service NetFlix seems to be supporting HDR content on the LG G6 smartphone, their latest flagship from the South Korean manufacturer. HDR is one of the most anticipatory features in smartphone due to the vividity on the display really enhancing colors and improving the contrast. That said, the reports also mentioned that Netflix has also rolled out the support for the latest Galaxy S8 smartphones from Samsung, which was later proved to be untrue.
The story initially developed when users began seeing the HDR badge popping up in the application on their Galaxy S8 smartphones. When some users also began to confirm the same, major social media went abuzz due to the popular feature. Later, Forbes updated their report mentioning that it was accidental on the Samsung smartphones when Netflix responded that the issue was rather on their side rather than the hardware itself. That said, the LG G6 becomes the first flagship smartphone to receive support for HDR on Netflix.
LG G6 owners can now take active advantage of HDR since the device handles wider color spectrums and enhanced lighting excellently. As noted from GSMArena, the smartphone will also support Dolby Digital Vision support. The 5.0.1 version of Netflix will be supporting both features for those people who haven't yet updated the apps on the smartphone yet.
LG's latest flagship, the LG G6 is a 5.7-inch smartphone that sports an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen while displaying 16.7millions on it. Out of the box, the device is HDR and Dolby Vision compliant and it also features an always-on display. With Snapdragon 821 octa-core and 4GB of RAM on board, the G6 is powered by a non-removable 3300mAh battery. While LG's previous G5 flagship was a massive flop in the market, their new smartphone seems to be doing well in its sales.
